Greetings, and welcome to my CD page,
On this page you will find a partial list of the CDs that I am on, along with information about what is on them and how to obtain them. You can also, at the click of a button, read reviews about most of them. There is only one thing that these discs have in common, and that is that I play guitar on them. Beyond that, you will find that they come from a broad musical palette. From more traditional jazz and mellow celtic sounds all the way to electric jazz quartet and foot-stomping western swing, I feel there is something here for even the most eclectic tastes. Scroll down, and see what you think. I hope you find something you like. Thank you for looking.

Solo Guitar"Just Thinkin´ Out Loud"
|
There is an immense pleasure and yet a never ending challenge in creating a solo guitar arrangement of a song so that it may contain as many elements as is heard in a full band or orchestra, while still having the music flow freely. This is my latest work and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoy playing it. There are two complete songs from this cd, "In My Life" and "All The Things You Are", on my Multimedia / Music Samples page. There are some more samples at cdbaby.com/cd/holzinger where this cd is available for purchase. It is also available at my gigs.

Lost Weekend"Harbor Lights And Cowboy Blues"
|
Better late than never! This is the first Lost Weekend cd. We recorded it in 2000 and 2001 after over 15 years of swingin´ and having a great time. The lineup on the cd is similar to what we have now except that the cd features Trey Sabatelli on drums and Melissa Collard is the featured vocalist. There are 15 tracks on this disc that speak right up for themselves in terms of quality. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. The Lost Weekend CDs are available by mail from Don Burnham, the bandleader. Click on the button below to go to the Lost Weekend order information page.

Lost Weekend"Swingin´ Out West, Lost Weekend Live"
|
If you like your western swing hot and live then this is the cd for you. Swingin Out West celebrates the entire 21 year history of Lost Weekend in 14 sizzling live tracks. I'm a relative newcomer to this band. I've only been here for 14 years, so I'm not on everything but when you hear the older tunes you'll see why I feel honored to be a part of this group. This band has a very impressive legacy. The Lost Weekend CDs are available by mail from Don Burnham, the bandleader. Click on the button below to go to the Lost Weekend order information page.

Groove.Org"Watching The Water"
|
The Groove.Org CD, Watching the Water, features former Grateful Dead and The Tubes keyboardist Vince Welnick on our version of "Strawberry Fields" and the jam that follows it. Our sound is hard to describe but I think it's fair to say we're a psychedelic funk jazz rock jam band based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Since we have more of a jazz based sound, this cd will be a brand new sound for many jam band affecionados. In addition to the tracks on my on my Multimedia / Music Samples page, there are some more samples at cdbaby.com/cd/organicgroove where this disc is available for purchase. It is also available at our gigs.

MadHouse"The State We´re In"
|
A precursor to Groove.Org, MadHouse was a electric jazz rock band I played in during the nineties. Although the cd came out back in 1997 it has a timeless quality to it that makes it sound very hip to this day. Give it a listen, and you'll see why I'm very proud of the work I did with this band, and why this disc will be one of my personal favorites for a long time to come. Guest artists on the CD are noted saxophonists Chuck Clark and Peter Apfelbaum, founder of the Hieroglyphics Ensemble, also percussionist Jesús Diaz, and clarinetist Sheldon Brown. I plan on offering this CD for sale on this website sometime in the near future. In the meantime you can hear some samples of our music on my "Multimedia / Music Samples" page.

Pat Kelley With Mark Holzinger"Pat Kelley With Mark Holzinger"
|
This is a different type of cd for me. I play acoustic guitar and accompany my good friend, Pat Kelley, an accomplished hammered dulcimer player. Other than to say it has something of a celtic sound, I prefer to let the music speak for itself on this one. I have an entire page, with music samples, devoted to this duo that you can link to under my projects button. The same four songs that are on that page are also on my Multimedia / Music Samples page. While it is well worth it, this cd is something of a challenge to aquire. You have to contact Pat for the details. There is a link below that will get you to his MySpace site. You take it from there.

Johnny Smith With Friends
Mark Holzinger & Chris Justin
"San Francisco Bay Jazz"
|
This disc is a laid back, fun collection of Swing and Jazz Classics from the great American Songbook, performed by two guitars, bass, and fronted by Johnny Smith's vocals. All of the tracks on this disc are tunes that were popular in an earlier time, only now they are interpreted in a fresh new way. Cole Porter, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mercer, Miles Davis, and more are all covered on this one. There is a complete track listing, with samples, and loads of rave reviews at cdbaby.com where this cd is available for purchase. Just follow the link below.

Aldoush & The Human Exchange"This Life"
|
East meets West on this album where progressive world fusion crosses rock boundaries & is influenced by Middle Eastern textures as well as pop, reggae & Latin styles. Aldoush Alpanian, from Iran, sings, plays and arranges his own music and lyrics; a very interesting and creative individual.
Personnel includes: Aldoush Alpanian (vocals, acoustic guitar, daff); Mark Holzinger (electric guitar); Larry De Lacruz (soprano & alto saxophone, keyboards); Jeff Obee (bass); Dave Rokeach (drums); Jim Owens (tabla); Art Cavagnaro (percussion); Hooshmand Saki (persian tumbak). There are some sample tracks at cduniverse.com where this cd is available for purchase. Stolen Roses"Various Artists"
|
This CD is a collection of Grateful Dead songs performed by an eclectic combination of artists including Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, The Persuasions, Widespread Panic, and more. Sixteen tracks. Sixteen bands. I play lead guitar on "High Time" with the San Jose Stage Company. Our track is from the critically acclaimed stage play, "Cumberland Blues". Although this CD is currently out of print, it is still available at many outlets both on and off line. It's a real gem, so keep your eyes peeled. Or better yet, follow the link below to Amazon.com and pick it up from one of their independent sellers.
