Weddings and events come in a wide viriety of "flavors", just like the bands that I am involved with. Regardless of what you may be looking for, be it acoustic guitar for wedding ceremonies or cocktail hour, or dance music for later on, there is a good chance that something that I do will be a perfect fit for your special occasion. The primary focus of this page is on The Groove Affair, the only band I'm involved with that is put together specifically for weddings and events. However there are other bands on this site that may be better suited for what you are trying to do. If you are interested in jazz trio with piano, guitar, and upright bass, then you might want to check out The Pitchfork Trio. Another excellent choice is my Jazz Duo with Simon Planting. Simon is an internationally acclaimed upright bassist from Amsterdam with whom I play acoustic guitar. You may also be interested in Acoustic Duo with Pat Kelley on hammered dulcimer, or Solo Guitar, which works well for both ceremonies and receptions. The Groove Affair...
an innovative new kind of wedding and event band
Versatility is the key element in The Groove Affair. While our specialty is jazz guitar trio, we can evolve and become a really tight rock dance band as the evening goes on. We start out with lucious, mellow jazz standards to go with cocktails, dining, and conversation. Then when people want to get up and dance the rest of the night away, we offer a great selection of dance tunes from the swing era all the way to the eighties. It's the best of both worlds and it's completely customizable to suit your particular needs! Just let us know what you want and we can add vocalists and other instruments as needed. Jeff Obee (bass), John Waller (drums and percussion), and myself have been playing together for more than ten years and have about a hundred years of combined musical experience with a number of different styles between us. There are a few samples of our music below and our entire demo cd is included on my "Multimedia / Music Samples" page.
