These days when I use my name in the title of the band it
means I am playing in an acoustic setting with a traditional style
jazz guitar and playing with upright double-bass, drums or
percussion, and piano and/or violin. These ensembles are
called either the Mark Holzinger Trio or the Mark Holzinger
Quartet. Past lineups have included Simon Planting, Daniel Fabricant, or Joe
Kyle on bass, Terry Rodriquez on piano, John Waller on
percussion, Carlos Reyes or Julian Smedley on violin, and
more. In the samples below, First Rain and There Is No Greater
Love are both in trio format and the other two, Maybe It's The
Moon and Avalon, are quartets. As you can hear, we do original tunes as well as your favorite standards with a fresh and exiting style. The photos and music come from
various dates at Armando's in Martinez. |
